Year 3

WELCOME TO TERM 6!!!

We really cannot believe we have reached the final term! This year has gone so fast in so many ways. We would like to start the term by saying how proud we are of Year 3 and how hard they have worked this year. The children are amazing and have shown us nothing but courage and determination in all that they do. This term we are looking at 'How we can make living here better for everyone' and the children will be looking at both the local area we live in an global environmental issues etc.

On Friday 30th June, I, Miss Howard will be leaving to go on maternity leave and at this time it will also be my last day at Parson Street for the long term. I am so sad about this as Parson Street has been my life, my family and my love for the past 4 years. Both the children and the staff mean SO much to me and have had such a positive and wonderful impact on my life. I am however very excited about my new life as a mummy and my move back closer to my family... with my new family! I do hope to keep in touch with both the school and the children at Parson Street!

WELCOME TO TERM 5!!!

We cannot believe we are in the summer term!!!

This term in Year 3 we are looking into the world of bugs with our new topic 'It's a bug's life!'

This is a really exciting topic and we are kicking it off with a trip to Manor Woods on the first day back! Throughout the topic we will look at the life cycle of different bugs as well as drawing and sketching them in their natural habitats.

We'll be getting creative by making our very own bugs modeled on bugs we have found throughout our searches. This topic also provided us with a great excuse to explore the conservation area in school too!

We wonder what we will find?

Don't forget that throughout the term we would like you to keep practicing your spellings, having a go at your home learning projects and keep up reading at home and practicing those times tables! And remember, every little helps!

We hope this will be a great term with loads of fun and enjoyment!

Miss Howard and Miss Akinbulumo.

Welcome back everyone!!! We hope you have had a lovely break and managed to relax and enjoy some time out of school life! We cannot believe it is already term 4! Where has the time gone? This term we are carrying on with our Guatemalan topic and will also focus on learning about forces in Science. There will be lots of exciting things happening in term 4 so watch this space!

Welcome to your first term in Year 3. We are so excited to start the term getting to know you all and have some fun with it! This term we are learning all about 'Bright Sparks', where we will be looking at electricity and how it works. We will be discovering how electricity is used in many different ways and will even be building our own building that house an electrical circuit!

On the 15th of September at 3 pm we will be hosting a meeting for all parents and carers to come along and find out a little more about expectations and changes in Year 3. It would be great to see as many faces as possible! smiley

In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries about anything - please don't hesitate to ask.

We are very much looking forward to getting stuck in this term, and cannot wait to share more about our Year 3 adventures as the rest of the term unfolds.

Reading and Times Tables!

As well as the home learning activities that will be sent home, we would like to stress how important it is to encourage as much reading to take place as possible. Any time you read at home, please write a quick note in your planner as we would love to celebrate you for doing so!

In Year 3 we will focus on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables, so if you're feeling up to the challenge, get practicing at home too! There is always room for looking back at what we already know, so why not see if you can remember you 2, 5 and 10 times tables too! Maybe you could test a friend or family to see what they know? surprise
