Drop off - 8:50 - 9:00 via the top playground entrance. We will meet the children on the playground ready to take them into class. Children will be collected from the same place at the end of the day. Please limit what the children bring in to essentials only (book bag, packed lunch, coat, water bottle). Individual pencil cases will be provided in class so the children do not need to bring them in. As the children have a book bag there is no need for a back pack.
Our PE days are Thursday (indoor) and Tuesday (outdoor). PE kit is to be worn to school on these days. Our kit should consist of plain black shorts or joggers, a plain house coloured tee shirt or polo and trainers.
Home Learning Expectations
Children should be reading at home as often as possible. Please record when you have read with them and for how long in their reading record book. The children will need to have their reading books plus reading record books with them in school everyday.
Please continue to use Numbots to support the children with their mathematical learning.
Bug Club is still being used to support reading at home and Spelling Shed will be used to support practice with spellings.
Using our knowledge organisers, we would like the children to try and learn some of the key vocabulary and information for our topics. We still have our topic based project home learning ideas and if these are completed, please share the outcomes on ClassDojo where we will be able to share them with the whole class.
Muck, Mess and Mixtures
We are really excited to be taking part in this Arts based topic. The children will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of different medium including clay, collage and marbling. They will look at the work of different well known artists and create their own art work inspired by some of these famous pieces. We will also spend time as scientists exploring mixtures and changes of state. The children will take part in a variety of investigations seeing what happens when we mix a different materials with water. We will learn the definition of solids and liquids and the changes that happen to them when they are heated or cooled.
Land Ahoy!
In Term 2 we are really excited to be starting our Geography topic "Land Ahoy!". We started with a pirate themed dress up day and have lots of exciting activities to come. Children will become designers and make a moving picture of "Pirate Love Underpants" using sliders and levers. We will be learning about some famous explorers from the past and where they sailed in the world. Children will learning the names of the world's oceans, continents and hemispheres. We will learn about Grace Darling and why she is remembered for her daring and bravery. As part of this we will become Scientists and will create a light house complete with a circuit to provide a light. Look out for information about our planned class trip to the SS Great Britain to learn more about Brunel and the legacy he left behind. What an exciting few weeks!
Wriggle and Crawl
Our first topic this year is called Wriggle and Crawl. We can't wait to take the children on our first trip to Manor Woods to look for minibeasts. This is a Science focused topic and the children will be learning to identify minjbeasts using branching keys. They will also learn about habitats and food chains. All our main learning and vocabulary can be found on the knowledge organiser below and it would be brilliant if you could take the time to look at this with your child.
