Thank You

What a hot last week we have had to this term! We have fitted in so much this term. We have really enjoyed having you in our classes this year and thank you for all your hard work.

Good luck in Year 1 and we look forward to catching up with you in the playground.

Have a fantastic summer and see you in September.

Writing Early Learning Goal

Term 6

Wow, I can't believe we are in Term 6 already. What a busy half term we have all had.

We have really enjoyed looking at the cress seeds that you have been growing over the holidays and seeing what you have been recording in your home learning log books.

We are all really excited about this term. The reception children will be looking at growth and changes over time. We have a special delivery arriving this week so keep an eye out in the classrooms to spot what it is!

We are also starting off the term with a science workshop, delivered by Mad Science, all about climate change.

We have the up and coming party celebrations for the Queens 90th Birthday and our school health and fitness week. During this week we will hold our sports day which you are invited to.

What a busy term we have had so far. The children have really enjoyed creating their own stories based on Peter and the Wolf. We are now spending the last two weeks of term 5 looking at the story, Whatever Next. A story based on a bear that travels to space.

We are excited to invite you in next week to join us for your child's literacy lesson. We have been working hard on the children using their sounds to write meaningful words and sentences and would like to share the work the children are doing in class with you.

Please look carefully at the letter attached to this page to show the Early Learning Goal in writing your child is aiming for by the end of their reception year. Over the half term break we will be giving your child a home learning log, alongside a writing activity to complete. This way you can work together on your child's writing to enable them to for fill their potential in writing.

Welcome back to Term 5! This term we have began our talk for writing story, Peter and the wolf. The children are enjoying learning the actions to help them retell the story. They have been dressing up as the characters to act out the story and have just begun to make their own story maps. By the end of the term we hope for the children to rewrite the story using story language.

We are hoping to visit Manor Woods where we can act out the story in the wilderness and explore our local woodland space.

We are also looking forward to our FUNDAY visit at St Peter's Primary School, where we will be linking with other Malago Partnership schools.

The children have really impressed us with their reading progress this year. Thank you for your continued support to help your child reach a Level 6 reading book by the end of Reception.

Thank you,

Reception Team

What a busy Term 2 we have had. We have really enjoyed putting on a nativity show for you to end this term with a bang. I'm sure you will all agree it was a great show that the Reception and Nursery children put on.

We are looking forward to term 3 where we will start the term off with the story "We're going on a bear hunt".

Please come along to our new "Stay and read" sessions on Fridays. We will open our classroom doors at 3 o'clock for you to come into class and read with your child. This is also an opportunity to chat to the class teacher and collect a new reading book for the weekend.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year and we will see you all in 2016.

The song your child needs to practise for the Christmas Navivity is, We Wish You A Merry Christmas. We sing this without music.

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas

And a Happy New Year

Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year

Reception children have made a brilliant start to Term 2, well done all.

We have absolutely loved sharing our home learning on our Interactive Learning Diaries - thank you so much for adding photos and your child's words!

With 'Kick Start' beginning next Tuesday 17th, you will see some of your home photos displayed in our classrooms.

Please find attached information regarding the Nativity dates and times and the latest Letters and Sounds we have just learnt in school, to support your home learning. no

Thank you,

International Day 23rd September 2015

Welcome to Reception!

The children are settling in really well and have been impressing us with their fantastic listening and contributions. They have been enjoying getting to know their new friends and hearing about each other's home lives and interests.

Our current investigation question is, 'Who am I?' so we have been discussing how many siblings we have, where we live, what we like to do and so on. From this we have been drawing and painting ourselves, measuring each other and reading books about families such as 'Peace at Last' and 'Monkey Puzzle'.

We very much look forward to having all children in full-time from Monday 21st September.
