Love from Inky Mouse xx

Term 4

Handa's Surprise

This term our topic focuses on the story book Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. This week we have been tasting fruits from around the world, dancing the Animal Bop in the Dragon hall, exploring the patterns we have made using fruit printing and acting out the story using props.

I wonder if you can remember the animals that take Handa’s fruit from her basket?

If you have a copy of Handa’s Surprise at home or any animal props you would like to share with us, please let your child’s Key worker know.

To find out more about the exciting activities we will be exploring this term, see our Medium term planning below.

Home Learning

Thank you for sharing your home learning with us on the Interactive Learning Diaries. We have really enjoyed sharing them with the children. See below for Term 4 Home learning activities.

Bristol Zoo

We were very excited when Bristol Zoo came to visit us in Nursery. We learnt about animal patterns and danced the Jungle Boogie! Some of us were very brave and touched the animals. We  carefully held out  our hands to hold the cockroaches and we gently stroked the snake and stick insect.  Thank you Bristol Zoo we had lots of fun!

Chinese New Year

We have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year by using chopsticks to eat noodles, dancing like a dragon and exploring Chinese numbers.

Can you teach your grown up to say Happy New Year in Chinese?

Teddy Bears Picnic

Thank you for coming to our Teddy bears picnic. We hope you and your teddies had lots of fun! It was a great way to celebrate all the fantastic activities we have taken part in this term, during our topic of Hibernation and our story book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.

PC Stevenson

Following our interests in role-playing Police, we changed our role-play area into a Police station. We invited PC Stevenson to visit us in Nursery. He told us about his job as a Police man and let us try on his uniform. He even brought us a Police man's jacket that we can keep and wear in our Police station! We tested our investigation skills on him, by asking him questions:

Dougie: "Do you have a camera?"

Duke: "Where's the nearest police station?"

Chloe:"Why are handcuffs so hard?"

Isaac: "What is your favourite dinosaur?" (Diplodocus & T-Rex)

We walked PC Stevenson to the main reception so he could sign out.

Remember to share your Home Learning with us through your childs Interactive Learning Diary
