Term 6

Our topic this term is 'What is a shadow?' We are already very enthusiastic about this topic as we have been exploring shadows and how they are made? We have already been on a shadow walk and been exploring materials to see if they are transparent. We have been reading stories about shadows such as The Gruffalo's Child. We have a 'dark tent' in our classroom with torches insides. We are also working together to making our own dark tents. We will be exploring different sources of light and where light comes from? We will be making lanterns and creating our own stained glass windows. The children's interests in this topic will very much be followed so our learning will move in lots of different directions. Please can you talk to your children about shadows and discuss the shapes and patterns shadows make.

We will continue with Boromi this term. A lot of thought goes into each of the carefully designed boxes to make sure that every box taken home includes all the resources, ideas, tips and modelling needed to enjoy that special moment together, even if for just a few minutes. If you haven't signed up already then please ask for a form so that your child can be part of this wonderful opportunity!

Things to remember:

• children should bring a named water bottle every day
• all uniform should be clearly labelled
• spare clothes (uniform) should be kept on child's peg
• children can have school dinner or bring a packed lunch, to book a dinner please see the notes below regarding School Gateway
• we go outside in all weather, so please remember to bring a coat, hat, gloves & wellies
