This week, our Y6 children received their SATs test results. I’d like to start by congratulating each and every one of them. Whatever their individual outcomes, we are proud of each child in our school and we know how hard Y6 have worked in the lead up to these tests.

As a school we saw some real successes this year with some really good improvements in outcomes. For example, the % of children achieving the expected standard in maths has increased from 47% to 70% and in writing from 64% to 76%. Although they are estimated at this stage, we are pleased that our indicative progress measures look set to improve in all core areas from a position of ‘well below or below’ average to being ‘in line with average’.

Although our reading outcomes have improved from 48% to 60%, we know that this is one of our challenges in the year ahead and will therefore form a key part of our School Development Plan for 2018/19. We will share further details about outcomes, our analysis of the data and our strategies for improvement further in September.

Beyond Y6, we have seen our outcomes improve in all other key stages alongside other key measures of school performance such as attendance. We still have lots of work to do so that we work ‘beyond expectation’ but I am very proud of everyone who has worked hard towards making this the #BestSchoolYearEver at Parson Street. Thank you for your continued support – we couldn’t do it without you.
