Support during school closure
During the current closure of school due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have been sent a number of resources to support parents and their children who are at home. Please do have a look below to see if there is anything that might be useful to you. Note that these are from a range of sources and are not produced by Parson Street.
As ever, we are happy to support you in any way that we can, so do get in touch if you have any concerns that you think we might be able to support you with.
FACE COVID - How To Respond Effectively To The Corona Crisis.
In this brief animation, Dr Russ Harris, author of the international best-seller The Happiness Trap, illustrates how to use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to deal with the Corona crisis and the fear, anxiety and worry that goes with it.
This is a video session with our Educational Psychologist, Dr Mary Stanley-Duke, giving advice on how to encourage children to ask for help when they are stuck. Asking for help is a key life skill that can be nurtured at home as well as in school, and is a skill that employers look for later in life.
As schools start to open wider to children again, this session with our Educational Psychologist looks at how parents can support children to understand and make sense of some of the things that will be different about the new environment.
