Welcome to Year 5!
We hope you have had a fantastic Easter holiday and are looking forward to the summer term.
This term we are learning about water. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at water through literacy, science and geography. We have been amazed by the quality of your own homework and research. Feel free to visit our classrooms to see some wonderful examples.
In Science we have been learning about Space and will soon be moving onto plants and the roll that water plays. Have a look at the website below to find out more.
We have decided upon our new reading and writing targets. You will be able to find these attached to our planners. Please try and read at home as often as you can and refer to these targets when discussing the books together. Don't forget the reading challenge, each child can move up a level if they have read twice a week.
Times table practise is an important part of year five and we carry out weekly five minute hero tests. Keep learning these as much as possible as they are key to understanding the basics of numeracy. This term in numeracy we are developing our knowledge of time, money, angles, ratio, proportion and mental maths.
Click on the link below for some great maths games to play at home.
We hope you enjoy this term and try the best you can.
