Term 5 spellings

Welcome back Year 5!

We have had an exciting start to the week which has been focused on 'All Creatures great and small.' Year 5 were lucky enough to meet different birds of prey yesterday. Look at the pictures below!

Abacus!

The Year 5 children have been introduced to a new Maths program this week. Please click on the link below and ask the children to sign in (their usernames and passwords are stuck in their planner). Your child will then be able to play lots of games linked in with our learning in class and they will be able to earn rewards.

Please encourage your child to use this as much as possible as it will help extend their Numeracy skills in a fun and interactive way.

Merry Christmas Year 5!

You have worked really hard this term and deserve a rest. smiley

Attached is the mind map for next term for our new topic 'Fun fairs'.

See you in 2016,

Miss Grinstead and Mrs Robinson.

Term 3 topic-Roll up, Roll up!!

First term complete!

Class 11 and Class 12 have had a very successful first term in Year 5. They have innovated some excellent warning tales, used their investigative skills to become experts on mysterious materials and have experimented with tessellating patterns in ICT.  We now hope Year 5 enjoy our new 'Castles' topic as much as they have enjoyed our 'Mysterious Materials' topic. We can't wait.

Have a good rest over the holidays and get ready for more exciting topic based learning in term 2. Please see our term 2 mind map below to get an insight into the teaching and learning which will be taking place in year 5 next term.

In English this week, we have been focusing on using conjunctions to join and open sentences, as well as using exciting vocabulary to make our writing eye catching and engaging to the reader. Play the following games to practise the skills you have learnt.

PE MESSAGE FOR CLASS 11 AND CLASS 12.

Please remember that your indoor and outdoor PE lesson will be on Monday morning next week and not Tuesday. Therefore all year 5 children will need to bring their PE kit tomorrow.
