Hello and welcome everyone!
Are you looking forward to our final Study Focus in Year 1? In this, we will be learning all about plants and animals, including lots of ideas that you thought of when we did our mind map. We will be looking at how plants and animals grow and what we need to do to care for them.
In term 6 we hope to visit a farm, where we will learn about lots of different farm animals and have a chance to chat with a real farmer! We will invite your mums and dads to bring in your pets from home for some show and tell sessions.
As home learning project we will be having a competition to grow the tallest sunflower. Will your sunflower grow taller than you?
We will go to the conservation area and Manor Woods. Also, we will get the chance to use our investigation equipment to look at mini beasts and see how many we recognise. Finally, we will grow our own butterflies in the classroom and let them go in the conservation area.
We look forward to looking at all the things you have learnt during the next two terms.
In Literacy we have been retelling the story of 'Where the wild things are' with lots of actions to remind us. We will be using our imagination to think of new locations for Max to visit.
In maths we are focusing on numbers, including using different strategies and resources to improve adding and subtracting skills. We are practising our number bonds and doubles fact - can you count in 2s, 5s and 10s?
We do lots of reading in Year 1! Don't forget to bring your book bag and reading book in every day: make sure your parent or carer signs it so that you can move up the reading wall!
Keep completing your homework and practising your phonics and if you are unsure of anything, ask your teacher.
Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!
