Happy New Year!
Welcome back to the start of Term 3.
Our Topic this term is 'What can we learn about our world from stories'. We will be reading some traditional stories from different parts of the world such as Australia, China and India. The children would like to find out about the characters in these stories and make some puppets.
We have also posted this term's spellings and will add some weekly homework related to the phonics we cover in class.
We look forward to seeing you for our celebration assembly on Friday 16th January.

As part of our topic we were learning about toys in the past.
We decided to go and visit a local Care Home, to find out how toys have changed since they were young.
We learned some songs from the past and sang them to the residents. We also asked them about they toys they used to play with and the games they played at school!
Have a look at the videos to find out which songs we sang!
Hello and welcome to Year 1!
This term our study focus is all about Toys!
We will be designing and making a toy shop in our class. What do you think we need to have in our shop?
I wonder what your favourite toy is? We know lots of you like Lego so we will be having some Lego challenges.
We will be looking at what toys we played with when you were a baby. Do you think you play differently now? How do you think your toys have changed? Do you think your grandparents would have played with the same toys as you do? Magic Granddad will also tell us what toys were like in his day.
As we will be thinking about how times have changed, we will be learning some traditional songs and hope to be able to visit some old people’s homes to perform to them. Ask your Great-grandparents for their favourite songs.
You already know it is important to keep healthy and we will be exploring more ways for you to do this.
Hope you enjoy finding out all about Toys!
